Villandry in St James and in Great Portland Street are also well known for honouring the tradition of English afternoon tea. It’s served on a three tier stand full of delicious sandwiches, savouries and fresh scones with rich clotted cream and homemade jams. In the main café area, your clients will enjoy picture postcard views over Big Ben, while there are homely private rooms for 12 pax or 40 pax available on the first floor of the historic Edwardian building. In the Great Portland Street restaurant, you can find the intimate private Red Room which hosts up to 40 pax and the luxurious private dining room that hosts up to 70 pax.

Gillray’s restaurant offers a choice of several varieties of tea; finely cut sandwiches filled with chives and hot smoked salmon with crème fraîche watercress egg mayo on brown loaf bread, and coronation chicken on carrot loaf bread. The tea also features freshly baked scones with seasonal jam and clotted cream and a range of delicate homemade cakes.

The restaurant serves fine loose-leaf teas, finger sandwiches, delicate cakes and fresh, warm scones with delicious preserves. The legendary restaurant has attracted hundreds of celebrities and famous names over the years, many of whose signed photographs that adorn the walls. Ideal venue for a private afternoon tea experience, L’Etoile also offers elegant private salons for small groups: The Oscar Salon can host 38 pax seated, The Glass Salon 32 pax, Elena’s Salon 20 pax, The Victorian Salon 16 pax seated and The Private Salon 10 pax. For larger groups, the main restaurant is also available semi-exclusive for 70 pax.

Browns, Mayfair

Over the last three decades Browns has become a familiar name for those looking for an authentic British brasserie experience. In 1973 the very first Browns opened its doors and it has been a popular chain ever since. Set in one of London’s most prestigious areas, and close to Regent Street & New Bond Street, Browns Mayfair enjoys 19th-century architectural features and décor. An ideal spot for groups with a lower budget but still want to enjoy a high-quality experience. The menu features a selection of butter brioche rolls, home baked buttermilk scones with clotted cream and a variety of mini desserts, served between 2.30pm and 5pm. Browns also offers Afternoon Tea in its restaurants at Covent Garden, Victoria, Tower Bridge, Bank and West India Quay.

Urban Meadow Café, Hyde Park
